Choosing a Burn Right® Incinerator
A traditional 55-gallon drum was never designed for burning. Burn Right® Incinerators are.
Our purpose-built cylindrical design combines high-grade stainless steel, engineered airflow, elevated angle grates, and a stainless steel spark arrestor cover to create a hotter, more efficient, and better-contained burn.
The result is less smoke, more complete combustion, less leftover ash, and a product engineered to withstand repeated high-temperature use.
The cylindrical shape is an important part of the engineering.
High heat can cause flat metal surfaces to distort and warp. Burn Right’s round construction distributes heat across the body of the incinerator and helps it maintain its shape through repeated high-temperature burns.
The cylindrical design also works with our patented airflow system to move oxygen throughout the burn chamber.
It starts with airflow.
Our patented design allows air to move freely around and underneath the burning material. Internal airflow features and elevated angle grates provide oxygen from multiple directions, helping the fire reach and maintain higher temperatures.
That hotter, more complete combustion helps reduce the smoke, smoldering, and leftover material commonly associated with traditional burn barrels.
The best model depends on how much material you typically need to burn and the amount of space available on your property.
Smaller models are well suited for lighter cleanup jobs and smaller properties, while larger models provide greater capacity for landowners regularly managing branches, brush, yard debris, cardboard, or larger quantities of burnable material.

Our incinerators are constructed from high-grade stainless steel specifically selected to withstand repeated exposure to high temperatures. We have customers who have continued using their Burn Right incinerators for well over a decade—and some approaching or exceeding 20 years of use.
Actual product life will depend on frequency of use, materials burned, care, and operating conditions.
Burning & Everyday Use
Always follow your local burning regulations first.
Commonly acceptable materials include:
- Dry leaves, brush, branches, and other yard debris
- Clean, dry, unpainted and untreated wood
- Cardboard
- Paper and non-recyclable paper products
- Sensitive documents and records
Only burn dry materials that are permitted in your area.
Never burn materials that can create toxic emissions or unsafe burning conditions, including:
- Plastic
- Rubber
- Batteries
- Roofing materials
- Pressure-treated lumber
- Aerosol cans or other pressurized containers
- Other synthetic, hazardous, or prohibited materials
Local laws may further restrict what can be burned outdoors. Always check your local requirements before burning.

Plastic should never be burned in a Burn Right® Incinerator. We recommend burning only dry, approved materials such as yard debris, clean untreated wood, cardboard, and appropriate paper products where local regulations permit.
Burn Right’s engineered airflow and high-temperature design can significantly reduce smoke compared with a poorly ventilated traditional burn barrel.
However, no outdoor burn is guaranteed to be smoke-free.
For the best results, burn only dry leaves and approved materials, avoid overloading the incinerator, maintain proper airflow, and never burn during high winds or prohibited conditions.
Wet or tightly packed material will naturally produce more smoke and burn less efficiently.
Yes, where outdoor burning of paper is permitted.
Burn Right® Incinerators are frequently used to destroy old records, files, and sensitive documents.
Avoid loading tightly packed stacks or boxes of paper all at once. Separate or loosely arrange paper so air can circulate around the material and support a more complete burn.
A Burn Right Incinerator can also provide a contained outdoor fire for enjoying time outside, provided local regulations permit it and all safety guidelines are followed.
Always operate the unit outdoors on a stable, non-flammable surface with adequate clearance from structures, vegetation, children, pets, and combustible materials.
Remove ashes regularly and never allow buildup to reach the bottom of the angle grates.
Once the ashes are completely cool, simply tip the incinerator toward you and roll it away from the ash pile. Ash can then be removed from the ground or from your optional Ash Catcher.
Remember: ashes can remain hot for a day or longer. Always make sure they are completely extinguished before handling or disposal.
The Ash Catcher sits underneath the incinerator and collects ash that falls through the bottom during burning.
It is not required for the incinerator to operate, but it makes cleanup and ash removal much easier while helping keep the burn area cleaner.
The Base Ring is a structural component attached to the bottom of your incinerator. It helps keep the unit upright and stable during use.
The Ash Catcher is an optional accessory placed underneath the incinerator to collect falling ash and simplify cleanup.
Burning Safely
Outdoor burning rules vary by state, county, municipality, and even by season.
Before burning, check with your local fire department, county or municipal office, or environmental agency to determine whether outdoor burning is permitted and whether a permit is required.
Burn bans, drought conditions, weather, and local regulations can temporarily prohibit outdoor burning even in areas where it is normally allowed.
Never assume that using an incinerator overrides a local burn restriction or burn ban.
Burn Right® Incinerators are for outdoor use only.
Place your unit on level ground in the center of a cleared area approximately 30–40 feet in diameter with clear overhead space.
Never operate the incinerator on a combustible surface such as wood or composite decking, and keep combustible materials away from the exterior of the unit.
Never burn in high winds.
Wind can quickly change the direction of flames, sparks, and embers. Check conditions before every burn and keep a water hose readily available.
If conditions become unsafe, extinguish the fire completely.
Yes.
Always burn with the stainless steel spark arrestor cover properly installed and the dome facing upward.
The cover helps contain flying debris and embers during the burn. Use the Burn Right Cover Handle and heavy gloves whenever handling the cover, as it can become extremely hot.

Never leave an active Burn Right® Incinerator unattended. Keep children and pets away from the unit while it is operating and until the incinerator and ashes have completely cooled
Construction, Materials & Durability
Burn Right® Incinerators are constructed from high-grade stainless steel, selected to meet the demands of each component.
The primary panels and the Ash Catcher are made of 430 stainless steel, while the Spark Arrestor Cover is constructed from 304 stainless steel.
Material thickness varies from 16 to 20 by component based on its function and exposure to heat.
Stainless steel is highly corrosion-resistant, but no stainless steel should be described as completely immune to corrosion under every possible environment or condition.
Repeated exposure to extreme heat can also cause surface oxidation and discoloration. Gold, bronze, blue, brown, or rust-colored surface changes can occur as stainless steel is repeatedly heated.
This heat-related discoloration is normal and does not necessarily indicate that the steel itself is failing.
Heat discoloration is a normal characteristic of stainless steel exposed to high temperatures.
As your Burn Right® Incinerator goes through repeated heating and cooling cycles, the surface may develop bronze, blue, brown, or other color variations.
Consider it part of a hardworking incinerator doing exactly what it was engineered to do.
Burn Right’s cylindrical stainless steel construction was specifically designed to resist the distortion commonly associated with flat-panel burning devices.
Extreme heat naturally affects metal, but the round body helps distribute that heat while maintaining structural strength and shape through repeated use.
Replacement component life varies depending on frequency of use, burn temperature, operating conditions, and how the product is handled.
Burn Right components are manufactured from stainless steel for durability and long-term use. Individual wearable components, including covers, angle grates, handles, base rings, and other parts, can also be replaced when needed.
Assembly & Product Care
Most Burn Right® Incinerators can be assembled in approximately 40–50 minutes, depending on the model and the person assembling it.

- Leather work gloves
- Impact driver or cordless drill with clutch
- 5/16-inch hex drive
- Two pairs of pliers
The stainless steel self-tapping screws require firm, steady pressure and proper torque to begin threading.
That’s intentional.
Burn Right® uses stainless steel self-tapping screws. The smaller pilot holes allow the screws to create their own threads as they’re installed, helping create a tight, secure connection between components.
The recommended torque specification for Burn Right® self-tapping screws is 25 inch-pounds.
Avoid overtightening the screws.
Yes. While Burn Right® Incinerators are designed for straightforward customer assembly, assembly service is available for eligible local pickup orders.
